The sunscreens we get from the stores can have various side effects and some may even experience an allergic reaction to them. Nowadays, there are a lot of ways to chose the healthier option as there are a lot of alternatives available. Coconut oil has low sun protection factor but combined with other ingredients can become the perfect natural sunscreen for your skin. The recipe below requires only natural ingredients that can cause no harm and protect the skin.
Coconut oil: It has antiseptic properties and hydrates the skin.
Shea Butter: Rich in vitamins E and A, it enhances the blood circulation and skin cell regeneration.
Sesame oil: It’s a great skin softener.
Raspberry seed oil: This oil has a high skin protection factor and it’s rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids.
Carrot seed oil: It has amazing anti-fungal, antiseptic, and antioxidant properties, while being the ingredient with the highest natural SPF factor in this recipe ( 38-40).
Essential Oils of Your Choice: various oils benefit your skin in different ways, so if you know some that are good for you skin, feel free to add them.
- ¼ cup shea butter
- 20-30 drops carrot seed essential oil
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1-2tbsp zinc oxide powder (optional)
- 1/8 cup sesame or jojoba oil
- 1tsp red raspberry seed oil
- 2tbsp beeswax granules
Essential oils of your choice (rosemary, peppermint,lavender, and vanilla)
Melt the shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, and jojoba oil in a small pan.
Remove from the heat after everything is melted together and let it cool down. Add some zinc oxide poweder (optional) and make sure you don’t overdo it.
Put the mixture in the fridge for 15-30 minutes but make sure it doesn’t get too hard.
Take it out of the fridge and add carrot seed essential oil, raspberry seed oil, and other oils of your choice. Mix everything well.
Store it in the fridge and apply it on your skin when necessary.
