  • 1 box of instant banana pudding
  • 1 can of crushed pineapple
  • 1 container of Cool Whip
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped walnuts and 2 Tablespoons for garnish
  • 1/3 cup of mini chocolate chips
  • 2 sliced bananas
  • 2 jars of maraschino cherries, preferably halved

Preparation

The preparation method is simple and easy, just follow it step by step.

First, stir together the pudding and pineapple, until it becomes dissolved and thickened. Then, fold in the Cool Whip with a spatula. Next, gently stir in the rest of the ingredients, the marshmallows, nuts, chocolate chips, bananas, and cherries. And last, add some of the chopped walnut on top.

Refrigerate at least 1-2 hours to chill.Makes salad for about 8 cups.

TRADITIONAL BANANA SPLIT INGREDIENTS

  • 1⁄2 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1⁄2 cup scoop chocolate ice cream
  • 1⁄2 cup scoop strawberry ice cream
  • 1 large ripe banana
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (or Hot Fudge)
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry ice cream topping (or fresh strawberries)
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pineapple
  • 2 tablespoons wet walnut ice cream topping
  • whipped cream
  • cherries.

DIRECTIONS

In an oval deep dish or a banana boat line up ice cream scoops next to each other. Cut off the ends of the banana while still in the peel (about 1/4 inch). Long slice in half. Pop each half of the banana out of the peel onto each side of the ice cream row, pressing down and in a little so it’ll stay put. Top the pineapple vanilla ice cream, chocolate with chocolate syrup, and strawberry with strawberry sauce. Spoon the wet walnuts across all three ice cream scoops.
